Winner – Pro Build Tasmania – Two Woods House

Pro Build Tasmania have made Tasmanian timbers a particular focus of this arresting heritage renovation.  Three-metre high Black Heart Sassafras cupboard doors, with dramatic book-matching and repetition, create a warm and striking feature at the heart of the house and provide a counterpoint to the restored adjoining heritage surfaces of floor, wall and ceiling.  Elsewhere Tasmanian Oak with a strong figure is used to good effect in the main bathroom and in extensions to the original stair treads, and Celery Top Pine for storage joinery.  Fine materials, combined with excellent workmanship, provide a great showcase of local timber.
