Devonport City Council Art Gallery and Information Centre

It is a credit to Fairbrother Construction that it has been able to keep the character and feel of the Devonport Town Hall and adjoining Courthouse while at the same time inserting three new display spaces.  In parallel a Multi Arts Foyer has been wrapped around the rear of the buildings facing Market Square, and new Multi Use Areas formed within the retained Federation-style spaces facing Rooke Street.  The resolution of these competing foci, and of the potential conflict between heritage work and new work has been excellently handled to provide the City with a valuable new community facility.
