Join Andrew Golle, Clarence Macalister, and Michael Plunkett to learn about the 2022 NCC changes coming into effect in 2024 around Waterproofing, Condensation and Livable Housing.

Andrew Golle

Andrew Golle is a registered building practitioner in Tasmania with a comprehensive background in waterproofing. Andrew is an inspector and consultant specialising in waterproofing and tiling defects, and he is actively involved in Australian Standards Committees. Additionally, he contributes to the Technical Revisory Group for the ABCB Waterproofing and serves on various technical committees, including the Australian Institute of Waterproofing (AIW).

Michael Plunkett

Michael Plunkett brings over 40 years of experience in the construction industry. He is a qualified VET trainer, teaching Certificate IV and Diploma courses in Building and Construction. Michael is also an accredited NatHERS Assessor, utilising his extensive knowledge to educate the next generation of builders and construction professionals.

Clarence Macalister

Clarence Macalister is an experienced builder with over 20 years in the industry. He is a member of the ABCB Condensation Technical Revisory Group and the AIRAH Building Physics Special Technical Group. Clarence has developed a condensation training course with Dr. Mark Dewsbury and is adept at identifying and rectifying issues related to condensation and other complex building defects.

By attending this training course, you will gain knowledge about the following:

Mandatory Waterproofing Inspections:

  • Addressing the Australian Standard AS 3740 – 2021 Waterproofing of Domestic Wet Areas
  • NCC 2022 Deemed to Satisfy (DTS) pathway for waterproofing compliance.
  • Overlay Stage Inspections of waterproofing to AS 3740 – 4.5.3.
  • Compliance Inspections of Waterproofing as a Mandatory Notification Stage under Section 37, Regulation 18 (ba) of the Principle Regulations.
  • View practical bay and identify 7 defects.

Condensation Management:

  • Updates to NCC 2022, with a focus on roof ventilation provisions.
  • Understanding the significant changes to certain types of roof design, and how this will affect their design and construction.
  • Practical session working on different assemblies to problem solve and work through design and assembly issues.
  • Discussion of different challenges/solutions for various roof setups (e.g. low pitch, box gutters, parapets etc).
  • Understanding some proprietary and generic products and their pros and cons in various designs.
  • Explanation of other NCC 2022 updates (source ventilation and wall construction).

Liveable Housing Provisions:

  • NCC 2022 Livable Housing Provisions – review of these provisions that apply from 1 October 2024 in Tasmania.
  • Discuss the practical implications of the NCC 2022 provisions post-1 October 2024.
  • Overview of the NCC 2025 Public Comment Draft, highlighting key changes and updates.
