When completing your CPD please note
Section 4 of the Occupational Licensing Act 2005 states: Meaning of continuing professional development
For the purposes of this Act, a practitioner, or building services provider, is taken to demonstrate continuing professional development if he or she has undertaken and can show commitment to –
(a) development of skills in respect of the prescribed work which he or she proposes to carry out, and any learning required for that purpose; and
(b) maintenance of his or her existing skills.
What this means for you
To meet your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements, you need to show that you are actively keeping your skills up to date and continuing to learn.
This means:
- Building your skills by undertaking learning relevant to the work you do (or plan to do), and
- Maintaining your existing knowledge, including staying current with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
Your CPD must include a mix of different types of learning activities. You cannot rely on just one area (for example, only business or management courses). Instead, your CPD should be balanced and include learning that supports your technical skills, compliance knowledge, and professional capability. You should also be able to provide evidence of your CPD and how it helps you perform your work competently.
