SUMMARY:Asbestos Awareness - CAMBRIDGE
DESCRIPTION:Essential training for anyone involved in the construction industry.\n\n\nEARNS 3 CPD POINTS! \nGain the essential knowledge and confidence to identify\, manage\, and work safely around asbestos in this comprehensive Asbestos Awareness Training course. Designed for workers who may encounter asbestos—including electricians\, plumbers\, renovators\, and those intending to remove up to 10m² of asbestos—this program equips participants with practical skills to recognise asbestos-containing materials (ACMs)\, understand their associated risks\, and apply safe work practices. The course covers the National Asbestos Code\, correct sampling methods\, risk management principles\, and the fundamentals of safe asbestos removal planning. \nParticipants will explore the history and legacy of asbestos use in Australia\, including its widespread adoption throughout the 20th century\, subsequent bans\, and its ongoing presence in one-third of Australian homes. With over 6.2 million tonnes of deteriorating asbestos still embedded in the built environment\, understanding how asbestos behaves—and the difference between friable and non-friable materials—is crucial. The course explains where asbestos is commonly found\, how it can be disturbed through renovations or damage\, and why identifying materials like low-density asbestos fibre board (LDB) remains vital for safety. \nA core component of the training focuses on the serious health risks posed by asbestos exposure and the regulatory responsibilities of workers and PCBUs. Participants will gain a clear understanding of diseases such as mesothelioma\, asbestosis\, and lung cancer\, along with why there is no safe level of exposure. The course also outlines the legal requirements for asbestos registers\, asbestos management plans\, safe work method statements\, health monitoring\, and air monitoring. Workers will learn their obligations under WHS Regulations and how to implement effective control measures on-site. \nThis course is practical\, compliance-focused\, and built around real-world scenarios to prepare workers for safe asbestos handling. Attendees will learn correct sampling procedures\, safe drilling and cutting techniques for ACMs\, PPE requirements\, and the role of licensed removalists. The training emphasises when work can be performed by non-licensed workers\, when Class A or B licenses are required\, and how to ensure safe\, compliant asbestos removal and disposal. Whether you’re a tradesperson\, supervisor\, or building manager\, this course provides the essential tools to reduce risk\, meet legal obligations\, and protect the health of workers and the community. \nPlease refer to the Keystone Tasmania website for information on training rebate availability for this course.

SUMMARY:Working Safely with Crystaline Silica Substance - CAMBRIDGE
DESCRIPTION:Master Builders Tasmania is now accredited with WorkSafe Tasmania to provide this training.\n\n\nEARNS 3 CPD POINTS! \n \nUnder Tasmania’s Work Health and Safety Regulations 2022\, it is compulsory for employers— (PCBUs)—to ensure that all workers who may be exposed to silica dust\, including employees\, contractors\, and other personnel on-site\, receive crystalline silica training if the person reasonably believes any worker is involved in processing silica that is high risk in the workplace. This requirement became effective on 1st September 2024. \nEmployers are also obligated to provide supervision and ensure that workers understand and adhere to safety procedures\, including the proper use of (PPE). \nMaster Builders Tasmania is now accredited with WorkSafe Tasmania to provide this training. \nSilica has been a long-standing health hazard\, causing millions of cases of disease and death since civilization\, stone masonry and mining began. The risk arises through the inhalation of dusts containing crystalline silica. \nSilica is found in materials like stone\, rock and sand; and products like bricks\, tiles\, asphalt\, concrete and some plastics. \n \nTopics Covered Include: \n• Identify silica and silica containing materials/products \n• The dangers and health concerns of silica \n• Appropriate legislation requirements and responsibilities \n• Managing the risk of silica exposure \n• Health Monitoring for Silica \nPlease refer to the Keystone Tasmania website for information on training rebate availability for this course.
